The EDC megathred, for everyone to post their smexy EDC flexes.
I don't actually have one atm, so have this nice LP2 one I pilfered from Reddit long ago. I wish I could find the original poster to credit, but I am quite strapped for internet bandwidth at the moment.
I'll replace it with my own LP3 one later down the line when I get my hands on one, but this does resemble something I'd rock. Even down to the manga volume.

My current EDC
I don't always carry my Nintendo DS, but I frequently take my film camera with me. As mentioned in my introduction post, I love the DS's form factor, the simplicity of the device (no complex menus, no updates), the huge library of quality games, and the impressive battery life!
I currently use Sony headphones, but I'm looking for good wired earphones - I'm not sure which ones to choose. I hate typical in-ear earbuds, but I love the AirPods Pro, so I'm wondering if there are similar earbuds with comparable comfort but in a wired version.
And of course replacing iPhone with LP soon !

I totally understand the appeal of the DS, are there any particular games you favor? If I were to play any games over and over again in short bursts on trips... It'd be the DS Pokemon games! The pinnacle of the series, and I always loved getting lost in their little worlds. They partly inspired my love for exploring nature, and the world.
For headphones, it depends on what you do. When you get the LP3, do you plan to ditch the iPod? If so, maybe these would be good? They're the ones I plan to get for my LP3! If not, I've heard this pair is the best money can buy, without breaking the bank!

Thanks !
Right now I'm playing Pokemon Black and Chinatown Wars! I'm still amazed at how this GTA game pushed the device to its limits!ShinRyusei wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 5:58 pm I totally understand the appeal of the DS, are there any particular games you favor? That's a good question. I love the iPod so I may want to keep it for several reasons:
- It saves LP battery life
- I can go places without a phone but still listen to music/podcasts
- The iPod has fewer distractions compared to the LP - when I have the iPod in hand, I'm much less tempted to check messages, browse menus, look at photos, etc., than I would be with the LP while listening to music
- At home, I connect my iPod to an amplifier to play music, and I'm not sure I want my LP to be "stuck" there as it would prevent me from easily answering texts
Depending on whether I keep the iPod or not, I might want wired headphones with a jack connector. Even if I drop the iPod, I'll still want to be able to connect headphones to my DS. So I guess neither of those options would fit my needs, but thanks for the suggestions!ShinRyusei wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 5:58 pm If so, maybe these would be good? Awesome! I've never been into GTA, but Pokemon Black is my favorite in the series! The mon designs are great, the music is lovely, and the story is genuinely awesome if you look a little deeper into it and invest in the world. The vibe of Unova is genuinely fantastic as well.ronan wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 6:07 pm Right now I'm playing Pokemon Black and Chinatown Wars! That's understandable. The LP3 is so big compared to the LP2 that I thought I might stop using my dedicated player, plus 128 gigs of space is very enticing given my large collection. However, my DAP has a Hi-Fi DAC and external storage via SD cards. It also has buttons so I can change music without pulling out the device, and the battery lasts forever. Yet, some part of me also likes how I'd be forced to limit my library size with the LP3. I don't need to take it all with me, after all.ronan wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 6:07 pm That's a good question. I think I'll figure it out when I receive my LP3!

As someone who's owned the LP2 and occasionally used it for music, I never felt distracted or compelled to check out anything. There was just so little to do that I eventually got bored and put the thing away. It may differ per person, though. I've also never went outside without a phone, and I'm lowkey too paranoid to even think about it.
The first one has a USB-C connector, but the second one has a jack connector! That's why I linked both.ronan wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 6:07 pm Depending on whether I keep the iPod or not, I might want wired headphones with a jack connector. Yes, it's supposedly the best Pokemon game ever! (Though I can't really confirm since I haven't played that many others!ShinRyusei wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 8:32 pm Awesome! I see! I guess I'll wait for the LP3 to arrive and then figure out how I end up using it. I'm really curious to see how my usage patterns develop!ShinRyusei wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 8:32 pm That's understandable. My bad! I don't know why I thought the second one was wireless! I guess it's because in most of the pictures, the cable isn't plugged into the earbuds!ShinRyusei wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 8:32 pm The first one has a USB-C connector, but the second one has a jack connector! Re: EDC
I'd say it's a toss up between it and the sequel, depending on your preferences. Black and White offers a rather fantastic, yet straightforward journey with a great story. The sequel's story is quite mediocre, but the world is a lot more open and the Pokemon variety is fantastic. There's so much to do.ronan wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 9:24 pm Yes, it's supposedly the best Pokemon game ever! (Though I can't really confirm since I haven't played that many others!)
Same here. I actually thought I forgot my Sony DAP in the move, so I gave up on the idea, but finding it recently has made me question how I'll go about it myself.ronan wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 9:24 pm I see! IEMs have replaceable cables, so they tend to show off the actual "monitors" themselves as opposed to the whole kit in production pictures. Be assured, they do actually come fully put together.ronan wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 9:24 pm My bad! I don't know why I thought the second one was wireless! On a side note, I now understand why that one member wanted an EDC section as opposed to a megathread. Even in forums, I guess posts like these can quickly go into completely different directions, even at a slower pace. Not that it's a bad thing, this conversation has been quite lovely.
But it's definitely something to consider moving forward. What are your thoughts?

Re: EDC
I would say that for the moment the community is small, so even if there an EDC thread for each member it won't be too much, so let's tell people to make a thread for their EDC. I guess we'll see later if there are too many threads, but for the moment it should not be an issue !ShinRyusei wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 9:40 pm On a side note, I now understand why that one member wanted an EDC section as opposed to a megathread.
