I am Chicken, I'm here to learn more about LightPhone 3 while I wait for it.
I have used many devices over the year like HMD Nokias, CAT S22 and QIN phones.
I'd love to exit from the rabbit hole that is Reddit and to be confined at the borders of this forum, because reading about Lightphone was the reason for using Reddit the most this year.
I do love the aspect of some non-LP related topics but I would beg you not to turn this forum into another Discord community that is distracted by talking about cool hobbies

Interesting! I agree that Reddit can easily become a time sink!

Thanks for that feedback. I feel like having "clusters" in the forum for off-topic conversation lets the community "live." Especially since most users here are interested in minimalist lifestyle and low tech, which aren't Light Phone topics but are somewhat related. What's your point of view about that? Would keeping off-topic stuff in sub-forums that you choose not to check if you don't want to work for you?

I am all for discussing things that could supplement the LightPhone 3. For example if LightPhone 3 music capabilities are not good, let's talk about alternatives: mp3 players, DAPS but let's not talk about music bands or what we like to listen.
We don't like LP3 camera? Let's show what are we using to replace that, but let's not make it a Flickr forum where people come and upload 100 photos they took with their Canon Powershot in 2006.
So what I'm saying is even non Light phone topics to be somewhat related to the Lightphone, digital minimalism or how I like to call it digital decentralization, because it never ends up being minimal.

I hope I'm making myself more clear
I agree with you - we definitely don't want this to turn into Facebook. On the other hand, I don't want to prevent Light Phone users from discussing shared interests, even if that involves sharing photos or music recommendations. I completely understand that this could be annoying for others.
However, if everything is well organized into separate sections, people can choose which sub-forums to follow and which to ignore. I'm on other forums where this community aspect exists but doesn't interfere with my experience - I simply focus on the technical sub-forums and skip the community life threads, which works quite well.
What do you think about this approach? I'm curious to see how our forum evolves naturally, and I'm always open to adjusting based on everyone's feedback. After all, we're building this space together!

Agreed! Let's see how the forum evolves, currently it's looking like going on the right direction.
p.s Thanks for offering the font size option, but see if you can offer a wider grid for the whole forum, still I have to zoom in because too much wasted space on the sides. And see if you can add a favicon, I have bookmarked the forum

Your wishes are my commands
I've setted up a new plugin to configure full-width if you want to. Again go to your control panel and then display options, there you'll be able to set full width:

Also I added a favicon, but I'm not a designer, so if anyone comes with a better one I'll change it !

Welcome to the community, Chicken! I'm glad we could offer a hone for you, this forum was created because we felt the exact same way about the Discord.

Thanks,

While I sort of understand this, it's a community forum, and to me, one of the most fun aspects about that is chatting and learning about the community. Due to how forums work, you are completely free to ignore any topic that does not interest you.
That aside, I hope you enjoy your time here!

That is fair! I'm just too curious to snoop sometimes

Maybe that isn't such a bad thing.
This community will never have as many posts or people as Facebook, and even if it gains more active members than the Discord, it will never be as frantic or fast-paced. Discussion will be significantly slower, and conversations can last a real long time. Don't feel afraid to make a post or two about something you like in the lounge, you never know what sort of bonds you can make in a space like this. We need more people outside of the staff making random hobby and topic posts, that isn't very sustainable.
