Weather Tool
I've honestly thought the addition of a weather tool would be neat, and maybe even a weather widget on the home screen? Maybe I'm pushing it too much with that one. But what do you guys think?

Re: Weather Tool
I've seen this posted many a time in the Discord, and I totally agree, but this made me realize something. We will probably see a lot less repeated feature requests, and can probably focus more on actual, organized discussion about said features than repeating the same talking points for the nth time.
(Not to discredit your post, just me getting jazzed about the possibilities.)
Back on topic, I have no idea. I don't use widgets at all on my smartphone. I just use the dedicated weather app when I need to go out. Adding widgets to the OS seems complicated. Could you provide a visual of the sort of implementation you're thinking of? Something similar for the lock screen sounds pretty good, and the way Mudita Kompact handles this information is also worth a gander.

Re: Weather Tool
I think a weather tool would be incredibly useful and not at all a distraction. I think even literally something as simple as just text would work perfectly fine for a weather tool, but a little icon and current temp. on the lock screen for quick glances would be nice too. A weather tool should be a given, though, and hopefully we will see one as the dust settles and Light begins focusing on the software side of things.

Ha Shin, I totally agree with you on the feature requests being less "spammed" or repeated like on the discord and reddit. It definitely feels like unorganized madness to me sometimes, but I do understand too the community has a lot of thoughts. And I was understanding that you weren't digging at my post. Well I actually do get texts at 11 each day for the weather, which is nice! So that's a possibility. But a tool would be neato to me. My idea of the widget would be a super small icon on the front home screen with the time, wifi, signal, etc, and maybe putting it there with a small icon of the temperature and whatever the conditions are outside (sun, rain, etc).

Seth I agree with you on all of that there!

Re: Weather Tool
I agree that it could be useful but my assumption here, as I'm a new light user as of whenever my LP3 arrives, is that I'll mostly just check on the weather before I leave for the day. Whatever happens while I'm out... well, it is what it is
.
I know it would be useful to have so I'm not against it but just not itching for it. If it was implemented similarly to how Blank Spaces does with a small top widget with an icon showing what weather to expect - it would be super cool. Blank Spaces is just a Light phone rip off anyways!

Hey Tim, I noticed you replied separately in two messages. I am unsure how many forums you have used, but you can quote posts, which is how people reply to a ton of messages at once on a forum! There's a quote button on each message, or you can specify what you want to quote with the quote button on the reply window. Anywho...
I'm glad my intent came across. To me, it's less about the community having a lot of thoughts, but moreso them repeating the same thoughts that have been said ad nauseam. They are often unaware someone has already said the same thing, but with the forum they can see the collective of what someone's already said, then bring something new to the table based on their thoughts and the knowledge that already exists. Those are my thoughts, at least.Ha Shin, I totally agree with you on the feature requests being less "spammed" or repeated like on the discord and reddit. That sounds pretty good, it links up pretty well with Cranium's example pic. Which, speaking of...My idea of the widget would be a super small icon on the front home screen with the time, wifi, signal, etc, and maybe putting it there with a small icon of the temperature and whatever the conditions are outside (sun, rain, etc).
That's a pretty good example! Maybe it could appear centered a little above the time portion of the home menu and lock screen? Who knows. If only Joe was here, so he could see all our awesome ideas, haha.cranium wrote: Sun Mar 30, 2025 1:34 pm I agree that it could be useful but my assumption here, as I'm a new light user as of whenever my LP3 arrives, is that I'll mostly just check on the weather before I leave for the day. Good thoughts there shin! I do hope joe "joins" this eventually, or really pops in and sees it exists. I think this is super sick here. And yes, I have figured out the quotes reply!ShinRyusei wrote: Sun Mar 30, 2025 5:00 pmHey Tim, I noticed you replied separately in two messages. How did you set this up? I would like to get the same thing. As far as I've found, you have to call a number and go through a robot menu, which is a pain.timothyjmiller1 wrote: Sun Mar 30, 2025 1:04 pm Well I actually do get texts at 11 each day for the weather, which is nice!
